The year 2013 marks both the Stirling and Millington Fire Companies 100th year of service to the township of Long Hill, NJ. In honor of this milestone, both companies will be coming together to jointly host a parade and celebration on June 15th, 2013. This celebration of history will be held rain or shine and local residents as well as fire department members are welcomed to attend.
It all begins with fire apparatus judging and registration at St. Vincent De Paul church from 9am to 12pm. Once completed, the parade will commence at around 2pm. The 1.7 mile parade route begins at the intersection of Valley Road and Deer Path in Millington. From here, the parade will travel eastbound down Valley Road until Main Avenue in Stirling. The procession will then go northbound up Main Avenue, Stirling past the reviewing stand at the Stirling Hotel until it reaches Central school, where the parade will conclude.
Following the parade there will be a celebration at the Stirling Fire House located at 321 Somerset Street. The celebration will be similar to a “wet down” or Block Party celebration which will consist of a BBQ, Live Music, and refreshments. Awards and Trophy’s will also be presented to the parade participant winners. The night will also include a Fireworks display from Long Hills very own Garden State Fireworks.
We encourage both area residents and our brothers in the fire service to help us celebrate 100 years of dedicated service to the Township of Long Hill. Anyone wishing to obtain further information or inquire about the event please e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
